Zavizionny Gennady Dmitrievich. Soviet and Kazakh artist, muralist. Member of the Artists Union of the USSR (1971). Worked as Deputy Chairman of the Artists Union of Kazakhstan (1980s). Born on 20 April 1938 in the village of Urjar, Semipalatinsk region. In 1969 graduated from the Moscow Higher Art-Industrial School (former Stroganov College), after his studies he went to work in Kazakhstan. After the collapse of the USSR the whole Zavizionny family moved to the Czech Republic, where he began active exhibition work. Died on 22 October 2013 in Anapa at the 75th year of life. Gennady Dmitrievich travelled a lot. His impressions were not just put on the canvas, he was constantly experimenting in his art. In search of new trends and currents were born his famous works ‘Walking in Darkness’, ‘Bearing the Cross’, ‘Liberation from Red’, ‘Walking Blind at Night’. Romantic landscapes also appeared, which soon took a dominant place in his work.
