Yelizarov Yusuf (Yusufkhai) Ifraimovich. Born in the city of Samarkand. A native of Bukhara Jews. Soviet painter, mainly portraitist, Honoured Art Worker of the Uzbek SSR (1964), teacher. ‘Made a great and valuable contribution to the art of Soviet Uzbekistan’ (Shostko, 1982). Soviet painter, adherent of socialist realism, whose paintings are distinguished by a special, natural, inherent colourfulness, impressionism of his teachers and, later, expressionism, corresponding to the soul of a truth-teller. Predominantly a portrait painter. From 1949 to 1954 he taught at the Tashkent Art School, at the Tashkent Theatre and Art Institute (1955 - 1957) and at the Pedagogical Institute (1955 - 1974) as head of the department of drawing and painting. In landscapes, especially architectural, depicted his region, in which he conveyed ‘the feeling of poetic value of the world of nature and the world of people’. Y.I. Elizarov's works are exibited in the Tretyakov Gallery, the Museums of Arts of Uzbekistan, Karakalpakstan, Tajikistan, the Astrakhan Picture Gallery, the Alisher Navoi Museum of Literature, and in private collections. A large collection of paintings is located in the artist's homeland, in the city he loved and dedicated many works to - in the city of Samarkand, in the Museum of History and Culture of Art of the Nations of Uzbekistan. скрыть
