Vladimir Sterligov. Soviet artist, painter, easel and book graphic artist. Born in Warsaw. In 1925 he came to Leningrad. In 1926 he studied at the GINHUK headed by K. Malevich. In 1929 co-operated in the magazines ‘Chizh’ and ‘Hedgehog’. He was arrested on denunciation after the assassination of S. Kirov in 1934 and until 1938 served time in the KARLAG. In 1942-1945 was in evacuation in Almaty, where he met T. Glebova, who became his wife. He taught at Almaty Theatre and Art School, worked on the radio, illustrated children's books. In 1960 he discovered and together with T. Glebova began to develop a new plastic-spatial principle - the bowl-dome. He united his students and like-minded people around him.
