Views of the city and its surroundings of Nikolai Soloviev - a joyful immersion in nature, experiencing the change of seasons in the streets, admiring the uncovered trees, flowering gardens. All this creates surprising intonations of the master's works, at least in the half-forgotten names of streets. Their toponymy, geography and history of the city: Artillery, Azhungarskaya, Dunganskaya, shady Grushevaya, Cherry, which preserved the unique atmosphere of the old quarters of the legendary so-called ‘Kompot’. The artist, paying tribute to the old, with the same enduring interest wrote new buildings, buildings that literally before his eyes transformed the landscape, bringing to life more familiar - for us - the city. Since 1951 he taught at the Almaty Art School named after N.V.Gogol (modern Almaty College of Decorative and Applied Arts named after Oral Tansykbaev).
