Yevgeny Sidorkin. Soviet graphic artist. National Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan, winner of the State Award named after Ch. Valikhanov. Was awarded the Bronze and Gold Medal of book exhibitions in Leipzig, the First Prize and the Gold Medal of the International Biennale of Graphic Arts in Krakow, diplomas of exhibitions in Venice, Budapest. Born in 1930 in the village of Lebyazhye, Kirov region. Graduated from an art school in Kazan and the Academy of Arts in Riga. After graduating in 1957 from the Repin Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, Sidorkin came to Kazakhstan. Here he fully demonstrated the highest professionalism and performing skills, becoming increasingly fascinated by the consistent study of Kazakh culture and traditions. Such a deep penetration into the culture of Central Asia can be explained by his meeting with the artist Gulfairus Ismailova, who became his wife. Sidorkin mastered all techniques of graphic art, worked in monumental art, but his favourite techniques were linocut and lithography. Some of the famous works of the artist are illustrations for the two-volume book ‘Kazakh Epic’, ‘Reading Saken Seyfullin’, ‘From the Mist of Ages’, ‘Kazakh Folk Games’, and many others, which have passed into the category of textbooks. For illustrations of M. Auezov's novel ‘Abai's Way’ Eugene Sidorkin was awarded the State Prize of the Republic named after Ch. Valikhanov. E. M. Sidorkin's works are in the Tretyakov Gallery, the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, the Museum of Arts of the Peoples of the East (Moscow), the Russian Museum (St. Petersburg), in the national galleries of Warsaw, Havana, Leipzig, Baghdad, Skoplje, Belle-Ile. скрыть
