From the age of seven the boy was brought up in an orphanage. In 1940 Nurmuhammedov became a student of the Almaty Art School, graduated in 1942 and entered the Moscow Aviation Institute. After the war he graduated first from the Naval Artillery School, then from the Secondary Art School at the All-Russian Academy of Arts. From 1947 to 1953 he studied at the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in Leningrad under Professor R.R. Frents, specialising in battle painting. In 1959 he moved to Almaty. In 1955 he became a postgraduate student at the creative workshop of A.M. Gerasimov at the Academy of Arts, from which he graduated in 1961. Nurmuhammedov worked mainly in genre paintings in the direction of realism and impressionism, but he is also the author of a number of portraits, landscapes, paintings on historical subjects. Among his most famous paintings are portraits of Admirals of the USSR Navy Isakov and Gorshkov, painted from life, as well as paintings ‘Foothills of the Alatau’ (1966), ‘Daddy is coming’ (1960), ‘Turgai steppes. 1919’ (1971 - 1972), “Brigade of I. Zhakhaev” (1972) and others. Nurmuhammedov visited many foreign countries: France, England, Brazil, Japan, USA, Canada, Mexico, India and others, leaving sketches of each of his journeys. The artist's works were exhibited at exhibitions in Canada, Belgium, Yugoslavia and other countries. Author of the monograph ‘The Art of Kazakhstan’, published in Moscow in 1970. The works are represented in the State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan named after A. Kasteev, the Museum of Modern Art in Astana. скрыть
