Nurgozhin Meirzhan. Contemporary Kazakhstani artist. He is a member of the Artists Union of Kazakhstan and the international creative group ‘AlmaLine’. He was born in 1971. In 1990 graduated from Almaty Art School named after N.V.Gogol (modern Almaty College of Decorative and Applied Arts named after Oral Tansykbaev), then in 1998 graduated from the State Art Academy named after T. Zhurgenov. According to Meirzhan's own admission, the first European artist he wanted to imitate was Mariano Fortuny. Character, accurate colour, careful detailing and academic training, romantic predilections - all this became an object of adoration for young Meirzhan. Later came such idols as John Sargent, Robert Frederick Blum. In the difficult 90's Meirzhan decided to go into another field, received a second education - a law degree and, it seemed, forever moved away from creativity. However, the nostalgia for painting, the desire to create and build won out. The external impetus was the invitation of the head of the Academy of Arts named after T. Zhurgenov, teacher and painter Zhumakyn Kairambaev to participate in a collective exhibition dedicated to his 50th anniversary. A strong team of his students gathered, including Dosbol Kasymov, Talgat Tleuzhanov, Umirbek Zhubaniyazov and others. It was an interesting period of creative discussions, debates and conversations, preparatory work. Then a high-profile exhibition at the State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan named after A. Kasteev. The picture that Meirzhan painted was bought from the exhibition. Since then he has never left the profession. Meirzhan is an adherent of the realistic method in painting, all his thoughts and paintings are impressions and memory of childhood, these are youthful flashes of feelings, these are mature reflections on the meaning of existence. His art is imbued with a subtle national colour and lyrical mood. Meirzhan does not limit himself to certain themes, he is interested in historical and battle scenes as well as domestic sketches, as steppe and mountainous as well as urban landscapes, as romantic and lyrical subjects as well as still lifes. The theme of childhood stands out in his work. Meirzhan Nurgozhin is a member of the Artists Union of Kazakhstan, a participant of numerous exhibitions from 2000 to the present time. On 28 October 2014 at the UN Headquarters in New York was the official opening of the exhibition of famous Kazakh and American artists ‘The Voice of the Eternal Steppe’, where his works were presented. One of the exhibitions at the end of 2016 was held in Astana and was dedicated to the 25th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan ‘Independence bequeathed by ancestors’. His works are kept in the National Museum of Astana, in the State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan named after A. Kasteev and in private collections in Germany, Austria, Japan, USA, Italy, Mexico. скрыть
