Nikolai Nikonov. Member of the USSR Union of Artists. Honoured Artist of Russia. Born in Yaransk, Vyatka province. He studied at the Kazan Art School (1908 - 1912) with N. Feshin and at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1913 - 1915), learned from L. O. Pasternak, A. Arkhipov. K. Korovin, V. Serov and M. Vrubel. Having left for Krasnoyarsk, he taught drawing and joined the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia (AHRR, 1922). Taught drawing in Krasnoyarsk. First personal exhibition was held in Moscow (1935). Author of the painting ‘Entry of the Red Army in Krasnoyarsk’. N.M. Nikonov's works were exhibited in 1923 in New York, in 1930 - in Venice, Zurich and Bern, in 1932 - at the Venice Biennale. He painted paintings on historical-revolutionary and everyday themes, portraits, landscapes, still lifes. In 1990 a retrospective exhibition of the artist was held in Moscow. Nikolai Nikonov's works are represented in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the Museum of Contemporary History of Russia and other museum and private collections. скрыть
