Martova Anna Mikhailovna. Kazakhstani artist, portraitist, who stood at the origins of the formation of Kazakhstani painting. She was born in the town of Verny. She studied in the studio of N.G. Khludov. In 1932-1936 studied at the Institute for Advanced Training of Art Workers in Leningrad. In 1942 she moved to Almaty, where she lived and worked. Anna Mikhailovna's favourite genre was portraiture, works include portraits of such great people of Kazakhstan as I. Altynsarin and Ch. Valikhanov.
