Kanapyanov Zhumagali Kanapyanovich. Graphic artist. He was born in 1924 in the village Kyzylzhar of Abay district of Semipalatinsk region. After the death of his father he was brought up in an orphanage. In 1943 was enlisted into the army and after 2 months training was sent to the front. All personnel of the 283rd rifle division, in which Zh. Kanapyanov served, was marked by gratitude of the Supreme Command Headquarters for the destruction of Hitler's grouping south-east of Berlin. All personnel of the 283rd rifle division, in which Zh. Kanapyanov served, was marked by gratitude of the Supreme Command Headquarters for the destruction of Hitler's grouping south-east of Berlin. He was awarded medals ‘For the capture of Berlin’, ‘For victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945’ and other jubilee and commemorative medals of the Soviet Union. In 1947 he came to Almaty, where he studied at the theatre and art school, which he graduated from in 1953. He worked at school as a teacher of drawing, and since 1961 - art editor of the magazine ‘Zhuldyz’. The artist is a participant of republican, all-Union and international exhibitions. The main genre in which Zh. Kanapyanov works is satirical drawings and posters, he also paints landscapes. At the international exhibition ‘Satire in the Struggle for Peace’ in 1977 Zh.
