Kaidalov Vladimir Elpidiforovich. Born in Barnaul. Graphic artist, painter, illustrator and posterist. National Artist of Uzbekistan. Since 1932 lived and worked in Uzbekistan. Kaidalov Vladimir Elpidiforovich. Born in Barnaul. Graphic artist, painter, illustrator and posterist. National Artist of Uzbekistan. Since 1932 lived and worked in Uzbekistan. He occupies one of the leading places in the fine arts of the republic. In his school years he was engaged in the art studio, then continued his studies in the AHRR studio under the guidance of E. M. Cheptsov, V. M. Cheptsov, V. M. Kuznetsov. M. Cheptsov, V. A. Zverev and others. Then he worked as a poster artist in the Leningrad Political Education Centre. On arrival in Uzbekistan, mastered the techniques of graphics and showed himself as an outstanding engraver (woodcut, linocut). He spent the years of the Great Patriotic War in the ranks of the 2nd Far Eastern Army, became a member of the Communist Party, and in the post-war years turned to painting. He was fascinated by thematic canvases and monumental images. A significant event was the creation of a portrait of A. Navoi. The first autolithograph was awarded the 2nd prize, and later, the pictorial version was approved by the government of Uzbekistan as a standard for reproduction. Stamps were made based on it. In the heyday of book graphics, V. Kaidalov illustrated a collection of poems by A. Navoi ‘Khamsa’ and others, as well as many books by contemporary authors. By the 40th anniversary of the Soviet power the artist executed an easel series ‘V. I. Lenin’, where the most successful ‘Portrait of Lenin behind the book’. Along with the intense creative activity Vladimir Kaidalov was a member of the Board of the Artists Union of Uzbekistan and almost invariable participant of exhibition committees.
