Gumarov Saken Nashmetdinovich. Film director, artist. Member of the Union of Journalists of the USSR. Member of the Artists Union of Kazakhstan (1998). Born on 3 February 1937 in Bokeyordinsky district of the Ural region. He received higher education at the Leningrad Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinematography and A.V. Lunacharsky GITIS. His first solo exhibitions were held in Kiev in 1990-1991 in the Ukrainian House, the Historical Museum of Ukraine, the House of Artist in Moscow and Budapest, then in Almaty. The artist's painting carries a huge charge of optimism and gives a key to understanding the integral unity of the world. In his work, Saken Gumarov valued the originality of the plot and composition. ‘Freedom. I appreciate and achieve freedom’ - said the artist. Forty personal exhibitions were held during Saken Gumarov's lifetime. The works are presented in the State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan named after A. Kasteev, the Museum of Modern Art (Astana), in the house-museum of Saken Gumarov (Uralsk, opened in 1995).
