Cavalier of the orders ‘Badge of Honour’ and ‘Red Banner of Labour’. She was born in Issyk, Almaty region on 29 December 1917. Having lost her parents early, she was brought up by relatives. They, having noticed Aisha's inclination to drawing, gave her to the art school of Almaty. In 1943 she graduated with honours from the Gogol Art School (modern Almaty College of Decorative and Applied Arts named after Oral Tansykbaev), where her teachers were L.P. Leontiev, A.I. Bortnikov, A.M. Cherkassky. In 1949 she graduated from the Art and Decorative Department of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (Moscow), specialising as a film director. Her diploma work - sketches for the film script ‘Songs of Abai’. Participant of exhibitions since 1949. Her works were highly appreciated in those times when she studied at the art school. She began her creative activity at the film studio ‘Kazakhfilm’, where she made sketches for the films ‘Poem about love’ (1953), ‘The girl-jigit’ (1956), ‘It was in Shugla’ (1955). Her sketches are characterised by great expressiveness and deep knowledge of historical features of people's life. In 1958 Galimbaeva was the main consultant on costume and life of the film ‘His Time Will Come’ (about Chokan Valikhanov). In 1950 she painted the picture ‘Dzhambul escorts his son to the front’. She created portraits of a dressmaker T. Rozieva and a folk mum. Rozieva and folk ornament master Basenova. Galimbaeva also painted colourful still lifes. In the 1960s, she created a series of works on the plots of M. Auezov's film script ‘Songs of Abay’ (‘The Court of Biys’, ‘Wedding Evening’, ‘Toy’, ‘Aytys’, ‘Meeting’ and others). In 1963 Galimbaeva executed a large multi-figure painting ‘Song of Kazakhstan’, full of ardent love for the people. Masterfully executed Galimbaeva still life ‘Saukele’ (1964), depicting the national headdresses of Kazakh girls. She devoted a lot of time to serious study of traditional Kazakh art, peculiarities of arts and crafts, national clothes of Kazakhs. In 1958 her album ‘Kazakh folk costume’ was published, including 60 drawings of costumes for different occasions. One of the favourite themes in painting is the fate of the Kazakh woman, as well as the modern reality, carefully preserving the most valuable things created by the talent of the people.
