Baigaliev Sayan was born in Betkuduk village, Kazakhstan. He studied at a boarding school and college specialising in easel painting at KazNAI named after T. Zhurgenov in Almaty. He studied in the workshop of contemporary art under the guidance of Aidan Salakhova and Sergey Ossovsky at the Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after V. I. Surikov.
