His drawing teacher, noticing Kantemir's talent and diligence, predicted that in the future he would definitely continue his education in the Leningrad rehabilitation centre for the hearing impaired. But, the Soviet Union collapsed, Kantemir stayed in Kyrgyzstan and this dream was not realised. Then, Kantemir entered the Osh State University at the faculty of painting, where he studied for a year. Kantemir further studied 1.5 years at the Faculty of Arts at Osh State University and 1 year at the Kyrgyz State Art School named after S. A. Chuikov, but none of these educational institutions he could not finish. All because there were no special methods of teaching deaf-mutes, there were no interpreters, and he could not simply communicate with teachers. Now Kantemir is a member of the Artists Union of Kyrgyzstan. He paints picturesque landscapes and portraits, genre paintings, is engaged in bas-relief, and also works as a designer. Kantemir Akimzhanov is a participant of many joint exhibitions. His first personal exhibition was held in 2002 in the school named after S. A. Chuikov. S.A. Chuikov, where he received gratitude and a certificate from the jury members from Switzerland.
